The Elephants club as donated 10,000 Euro. The check was given to us at the “Paarduell” in Hürth and our patron Frank Plasberg thanked the Elephants Club on our behalf. “Without the support of organizations like the Elephants Club we would not be able to continue our excellent work with the children”.
We brought some materials from Germany, others were bought locally in Kenya. Josef Brendgens is a former caretaker at Godeshöhe Clinic and had heard about Shangilia for years. For the construction of the playground, he had traveled to Africa for the first time.

The new school is an inspiration for our students: 12 out of 16 pupils had very good results In the preliminary tests of the 8th class. This means that good results can be expected from the central audit. We are very pleased to be able to finance the further education for these good pupils. The four students with poor results must give more gas in order to reach the minimum score. Otherwise the 4 will go direct to vocational training. As these training places must also be paid for in Kenya, we are happy if you can, for example, take on a Sponsorship. Further information can be found here. Or how about financing a boarding school place for the secondary school? Please contact us.
Finally classrooms with neat tables and chairs, tables and even a real teacher’s room. The foundation of the Rheinzeitung took over the costs.
If we want the children to have a real chance, they must also be familiar with the computer world. With the help of Labdoo, we were able to equip the school with laptops.
With a long-term perspective on costs and the environment, we are very glad that our sponsors for home and school support this idea.
The first building activity on the Shangilia property was the new construction of the school, financed by “A Heart for Children”. The opening ceremony took place in October 2012.
The cooperation between Skate-Aid and the Dirk Novitzki Foundation provided Shangilia with a multifunctional skater and basketball facility, which is totally unique in Kenya. The complex brings together children and young people from all social strata in Nairobi.
Thank you for your interest in shangilia
